Everyone loves Skip Bayless. Why? Because he's constantly reminding us who is and isn't ELITE.
So, now that we have almost a month of buildup before the Champions League final-cum-Madrid derby in Lisbon, let's do a little thought experiment that's sure to piss off lots of non-ELITE people.
Welcome to IS HE ELITE? European Soccer Edition!
The rules are simple. We're going to work together to compile the most ELITE players from the 32 teams in this season's Champions League (fuck you, Luis Suarez).
As UCL rules allow squads of 18 players, choose 2 goalkeepers, 6 defenders, 6 midfielders, and 4 forwards. Pick your ELITE players from each team's roster:
GROUP A: Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar Donetsk, Real Sociedad
GROUP B: Real Madrid, Galatasaray, Juventus, Copenhagen
GROUP C: Paris Saint-Germain, Olympiakos, Benfica, Anderlecht
GROUP D: Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Victoria Plzen, CSKA Moscow
GROUP E: Chelsea, Schalke 04, Basel, Steaua Bucharest
GROUP F: Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Napoli, Olympique Marseille
GROUP G: Atletico Madrid, Zenit St. Petersburg, Porto, Austria Wien
GROUP H: Barcelona, AC Milan, Ajax, Celtic
Now then, have at it in the comments, and let's all have a good shouting match over who deserves to be called ELITE!
